Why botenz was started?

The question that
stayed with me.

I grew up around food factories and my father was a food engineer, and when I was nine years old, I walked into a manufacturing plant with him for the first time.

Years later, as a competitive athlete constantly travelling and relying on packaged food, I found myself asking the same question again. The labels looked healthy. The marketing sounded healthy. Yet the ingredients often told a different story — added oils, fillers, artificial ingredients, and industrial shortcuts. The more I looked, the harder it became to find food I genuinely trusted. So instead of settling for what existed, I decided to make it myself.

I wasn't looking for the cheapest factory.
I was looking for the right people.

Once I knew what I wanted to create, I started searching for manufacturers who could help bring it to life.

I spoke with factories across China, Europe and the United States. The conversations were different, but the conclusion was almost always the same the process was too slow, and the batches were too small, the standards were too high.

Most manufacturers optimise for speed. We choose a slower path — roasting carefully, peeling by hand and cold-pressing each batch for hours to reduce excess oil without relying on industrial shortcuts. It’s a process built on patience rather than efficiency.

Every batch takes around 2 to 4 hours to complete, producing just 29 jars from 5 kilograms of nuts. The result is a protein-dense powder that retains the flavour, character and integrity of the original ingredient — because nothing was rushed, stripped away or artificially altered.

I’m Elad Lavi, the founder of Botenz. After living in India, I realized something: people here care about health—but “better-for-you” products here often use the same tricks—just better marketing.
