aflatoxins are naturally occurring toxins produced by certain molds that can grow on nuts, grains, and oilseeds — especially when stored in warm, humid conditions. they're one of the most studied food safety concerns in india.
the fssai limit is 15 µg/kg for total aflatoxins in nut products. our peanut powder tested at a total of roughly 1.3 µg/kg — more than 10× below the legal limit. our sesame powder tested even lower, with all four aflatoxin types under the detection limit.
translation: safe. not "just passing" — clean by a wide margin.
nabl (national accreditation board for testing and calibration laboratories) is india's official accreditation body for testing labs. a nabl-accredited lab meets international standards for methodology, equipment, and reporting accuracy.
we use equinox labs — one of india's most established nabl-accredited food testing labs — so the numbers on our reports hold up to regulatory scrutiny.
trans fats are the worst kind of dietary fat, linked to heart disease. india banned industrial trans fats above 2% in 2022. our peanut powder tested at less than 0.1 g per 100g — effectively zero.
added sugar tested at less than 1 g per 100g. for context: one teaspoon of sugar is about 4 grams. the small amount of total sugar in the report comes naturally from the nut and from the tiny bit of coconut sugar we use to balance the flavor.
when we cold-press most of the oil out of a peanut, the remaining powder is much more concentrated in everything else — including protein. whole peanuts are about 25g protein per 100g. botenz peanut powder tested at 48.95 g per 100g — nearly double, without adding any isolates, blends, or engineered protein.
that's the whole point of a defatted nut powder: the real nut, minus most of the oil, equals more nutrition per spoon.
